The Water Tower,

A circular double-storey with an interesting past, the Water Tower sits in a pleasant garden in the heart of Nieu Bethesda. Nieu Bethesda is a quaint little village with many restaurants and coffee shops.

This quirky building was first a water tower and then a Buddhist meditation room. With whitewashed walls and wooden floors, it is a calm and clean space from which to enjoy the famous Karoo sky, day or night.

The Water Tower can accommodate 2 guest, on a queen-size bed in the room upstairs adjoining the sun- and star-deck. The kitchenette is downstairs, as well as the private shower and composting toilet attached in a separate outbuilding. The kitchen is equipped with a bar fridge, 2-plate stove and tea- and coffee-making facilities.

Do some stargazing on the deck before creeping under the crisp cotton sheets, lamb’s wool duvets and mohair blanket. Pets are welcome by arrangement.

The world famous Owl House is in the heart of the village and is an attraction visited by more than 15 000 visitors every year. Guests can enjoy activities such as cycling, hiking, mountain biking, game drives, bird watching and horseback riding in the area. Nearby attractions include Camdeboo National Park and Valley of Desolation. Or climb the Kompasberg.
